STEVEN GERRARD'S former Liverpool team-mate John Arne Riise stunned fans by beating the legendary midfielder in a shot power challenge ahead of the Nexon Icons match in Seoul.
In a surprise twist before the exhibition game - where Wayne Rooney scored a worldie - kicked off at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday, the legends took part in a series of skill contests.
But it was Riise’s thunderbolt left foot that stole the show as they attempted to blast the ball through a specially-built prop lined with sheets of what looked like card.
The 44-year-old Norwegian's shot's power forced it all the way through the obstacles, leaving the crowd gasping.
Gerrard, who scored many long-range efforts in his heyday, only made it part of the way through.
One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter): "How has Riise outpowered Gerrard?? That left foot is still a rocket!"
Another joked: "Gerrard’s probably still checking the radar to see if it’s broken."
The moment drew loud cheers and laughter from the crowd and even from some of the players.
Another fan said: "Riise’s shot power once fractured Alan Smith’s leg."
While another added: "He could drive nails into a concrete wall with that left."
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took charge of challengers FC Spear, while ex-Liverpool and Chelsea gaffer Rafa Benitez organised Shield United’s title defence.
Tens of thousands packed in for an epic battle between a team of mainly attacking players and a side based on defenders.
It was FC Spear who took home the win, with late goals from Maicon and Joo-Ho Park helping them successfully retain their crown.

Sorry, what shame ? On who ? Gerrard ? Never especially if you know the left foot or John Arne Riise He has a greater shot power than Gerrard and that’s saying something cause Gerrard could hit them. But it’s worth noting, John Arne Riise is the only player I’ve seen who’s shot broke another player’s leg, just saying
