Steven Gerrard has offered to come and help Arne Slot at Liverpool amid mounting pressure on the Dutchman.
The Anfield legend says that managing the club is his 'dream' one day but also admitted that he does not feel ready to do the job yet.
Slot has faced increasing pressure with Liverpool sitting fifth in the table - despite delivering them the Premier League title last season. It is unlikely that the Reds will make a change mid-season.
They could yet win the Champions League and the FA Cup and Liverpool are planning their summer signings in consultation with Slot.
Gerrard told the Stick to Football podcast: 'I’ve got a brilliant connection with the club. I always have, and probably a stronger connection since I left. They’ve always been unbelievable.
'Any help or area I could help the club in, I’d always try and do it if I could.
'But I suppose what you want to know is, do you want to manage Liverpool at some point in your life?
'Of course, that would be a dream, but I think would I be ready for it right now to take it over a period of time? Probably not, but is there a possibility in the future to be alongside someone, them elite managers that you’re talking about?
'Depends who it is and how the conversation goes, and does he need me? What does he think I can offer?'
Gerrard sounds as if he would enjoy a coaching role either under Slot or a future manager after taking a battering during his own managerial career.
He was a resounding success at Rangers, winning them their only title since 2011, but underwhelmed at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
It is unlikely that a club of Liverpool's stature would appoint Gerrard should they sack Slot.
Xabi Alonso would be one of the natural favourites to take over as he is free after being sacked by Real Madrid in January.
Gerrard has been out of work since January last year and has since been a pundit on Champions League games with TNT Sports.
He also starred in a Liverpool Legends vs Borussia Dortmund Legends match last weekend at Anfield in a bid to raise money for the LFC Foundation.
The 45-year-old rolled back the years with an impressive performance but was unable to find a goal and the match ended 2-2 after Dortmund clawed back a two-goal deficit.
While he says he would like to get back into coaching, he is also enjoying more free time with his family.
Asked how he would feel if he did not go back into coaching, he said: 'I’m okay with that, I enjoy covering some of the games. I enjoy having quite a bit of free time, probably the best part I’ve had from a family point of view in ever really, in terms of being there, being present.
'Lio [his youngest son] is eight now. I’ve been in Scotland, in Birmingham, so yeah, really enjoying the family side of it and having a load of free time, but also I’m conscious that I want to stay busy enough.'

Stevie G you are a Liverpool Legend and rightfully so you will remain among the greatest player Liverpo FC have ever produced but when it comes into managing a club that is another story. I think you are not up to the task yet at least. Because if i recall, you git sacked by Villa a while ago so Stevie G wait a little bit or may be seek to coach some 2nd League teams to get more experience and one day may be you may apply for the job Now Liverpool is not looming to experiment a coach but to have some ready made manager who can challenge the EPL title, Champions League and other trophies as Klopp did.
