Giroud 'set for January exit from Chelsea' with club willing to accept offers

Chelsea will listen to offers for Olivier Giroud in January, leaving Michy Batshuayi as the club's only like-for-like cover for Tammy Abraham if their transfer ban is not lifted, according to DailyMail.

Head coach Frank Lampard also believes he can use Christian Pulisic as a false nine - with the American more of a mobile option than World Cup winner Giroud in his system.

Giroud is understood to be open to leaving, too, given the 33-year-old Frenchman needs game time ahead of the summer's European Championship. Italy's Serie A is a potential destination.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport are currently reviewing Chelsea's two-window transfer ban.

If overturned, with a decision expected before January, Lampard will look to bolster his squad. That could include bringing in a new back-up striker to Abraham.

Chelsea signed Giroud for around £18million in January 2018. He signed an 18-month deal and has scored five goals in 45 Premier League games.
