According to Goal.com, speculation is mounting once again over the future of Al-Ahli SFC's English striker Ivan Toney, with Newcastle United reportedly considering a January move, though financial terms remain a significant obstacle.
Speculation surrounding Newcastle United's transfer activity is growing. The club's head coach previously addressed how financial constraints would shape January signings, emphasizing that the coaching staff's priorities alone would not be sufficient to finalize new player acquisitions.
In his pre-match comments ahead of Newcastle's clash with Everton, the head coach made clear that winter signings would be subject to financial regulations. He stressed that this was not merely a "wish list" for the coaching staff, and any subsequent moves would be coordinated with the recruitment team. These remarks underscore that Newcastle United would struggle to complete high-profile deals without carefully considering the club's budget and existing financial commitments.
According to reports, despite Ivan Toney's recent links with Newcastle United, the club has not yet initiated any formal procedures to pursue him. This means discussions surrounding the transfer remain speculative, with no official confirmation that negotiations have begun between the two parties.
Wages could be a primary obstacle to any deal. Reports suggest that Ivan Toney's weekly salary at Al-Ahli SFC is around £500,000, while Newcastle United's current wage structure allows for approximately £150,000 per week. The significant gap between these figures could make the transfer difficult to complete.
As of now, there are no official indications that Ivan Toney is close to leaving Al-Ahli SFC or joining Newcastle United, and his future depends on whether concrete developments emerge. Until reliable reports of active negotiations surface, claims of his departure remain speculation rather than confirmed transfers.
