After an MRI at the University Clinic of Navarra on Monday morning, it's been confirmed that Diego Godin has suffered a muscular injury, though a specified period out of action for the Atletico Madrid captain has not been specified at this stage.
He joins the list of players already on the sidelines; Koke, Lemar, Savic, Gimenez and Lucas.
"The tests show that the Uruguayan central defender is suffering an injury at the muscle-tendinous union of the semitendinous muscle of the left thigh," a statement read.
It caused him to play the last half hour of the match against Athletic Club in considerable pain, and in the end Diego Simeone sent him up front, a decision that turned out to be a master stroke as he scored the injury time winner.
"I know more or less what I've done," the player said in the aftermath of the win.
"I tried to make the least effort so that it wouldn't get worse, and it was worth the effort because it had its reward."

Great Uruguayan. The World Cup has also taken its toll on you and on many players. In the bad, let's see the positive: a break will not hurt you. I hope you recover soon and come back stronger.

That you get better soon and well, I think that all athletes agree here regardless of our differences.
