Milan striker Gonçalo Ramos recently gave an interview on the Canal 11 program "Soltinhos pelo Mundo," discussing his transfer to Milan.

Gonçalo Ramos stated that he is currently in one of the best phases of his career. He has secured a regular starting spot at Milan and is also a key player for the Portuguese national team. Regarding his move to Italian football, he said he adapted smoothly because he felt that Amorim truly needed him and wanted him to be a main force at this historically significant European club. He was not disappointed by this.

Gonçalo Ramos said: "I wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, but it was complicated. It wasn't the best option for me at that time, but I just wanted to leave. The club immediately disagreed. However, Luis Campos assured me they would let me leave in the summer. At the time, I was playing in the World Cup, and suddenly, Milan became interested in me. Ruben called me. The coach is the one who decides to play us, and first, I met a coach who genuinely wanted me. Then, Jorge Mendes told me the transfer was settled."

He also recounted Amorim's phone call: "He called to tell me he wanted a center-forward, and I was his choice. He said we would achieve great things together, and I would enjoy it. I thanked him for his trust. It wasn't just up to me; they also had to spend a lot of money."

Since Ramos signed the contract while on national team duty, he also heard praise for Amorim from several teammates who had played under him.

Gonçalo Ramos said: "The teammates I met on the national team who had played under him only spoke highly of him. When I signed, they told me I would definitely enjoy it here. And that's true. I'm enjoying everything here; the situation is completely different. Here, I play as a No. 9, truly fulfilling the role of a center-forward, whereas at Paris Saint-Germain, some of the work I did wasn't what I was best at. Now, I can do what I'm good at."

Ramos was indeed playing in the World Cup at the time. He admitted that during Portugal's match against Croatia, he couldn't resist talking to Modrić, as the latter might become his future teammate.

Gonçalo Ramos said: "When we played against Croatia, I had already signed. I asked him if he would stay, and he said he didn't know yet. But we talked for a while. He played exceptionally well."

He also praised his teammate's personality: "You barely notice he's there, but when it's time for jokes, he actively participates. We get along very well, and in the locker room, we sit next to each other."
