Graham Potter and Erik ten Hag 'set to battle it out over major European job'

Graham Potter and Erik ten Hag are in line to receive a call over the RB Leipzig job with both coaches eyeing up a return to management, according to reports.

Potter is understood to have attracted attention from at least two Premier League clubs but could make his comeback in Germany should Leipzig sack Marco Rose.

The former Brighton and Chelsea boss remains out of work despite leaving Stamford Bridge in April 2023 and has more recently stepped into punditry with Sky Sports.

However, The Sun have claimed that Potter, 49, could be tempted by a role abroad and Leipzig may represent an attractive option for him this season.

Ten Hag might provide stiff competition, though, with the Dutchman available after being sacked by Manchester United in October following their torrid run of form.

Having already taken charge of Bayern Munich's reserve side between 2013 and 2015 and worked under Pep Guardiola, Ten Hag is no stranger to the Bundesliga.

As reported by Mail Sport, Potter is believed to have held tentative talks with Wolves with the club actively sounding out replacements for Gary O'Neil.

O'Neil's role is hanging by a thread and discussions with Potter took place last month.

Potter could also be on the radar at West Ham with Julen Lopetegui under pressure.

Leicester were said to have been keen in April 2023 but Potter turned them down. He snubbed them again this season when the Foxes rekindled their interest last month.

With struggling Wolves facing West Ham tomorrow night, events that could unfold over the next week may prove pivotal in deciding Potter's next role.

Potter recently hinted at a return to coaching while on punditry duty for Prime Video.

Asked if he was weighing up possible opportunities, he said: 'Yeah, of course.

'As I've said before, you're open to everything.

'But at the same time I'm really enjoying this [punditry] as well.

'Because it gives you another perspective, you get to see it from your eyes, how the media thinks about the game. That's always interesting.

'It's a different lens, that can only make you better once you understand that as well. So I'm enjoying that.'
