Graham Souness has doubled down on his criticism of Declan Rice following the midfielder's move to Arsenal.
The former Liverpool man previously stated that Rice did not score enough goals, despite being a defensive midfielder.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Souness reiterated his criticisms and believes that he is right to demand more from the England star.
'The only criticism I had of Declan, was that he did not get enough goals, and I am still standing by that' Souness said.
'Just because you're a defensive midfield player does not mean you can't chip in with goals.
The pundit, who is now working for talkSPORT, continued to praise Rice a she states that he will imrpove Arsenal, before continuing to explain his point further.
'He has to chip in with more,' he continued. 'Arsenal finished second last year, and he will undoubtably improve them.
'Can they make that jump from second to first because of Declan? Possibly, but needs to chip in with more goals.
'For the defensive midfielder he is, he has a defensive head, he sees the danger, deals with it, he is extremely athletic, and goes up and down the park.
'I just want him to be coming on to balls in and around the box, he is attacking, let him go.'
Souness finalised by setting a challenge for Rice at Arsenal, believing that he has it in him to impact the play further up the pitch.
'There is no reason he can't get double figures every year playing for that Arsenal team.'

you flopped as a manager bcoz you pressure every players in your team to score at least 10 goals per season but you then concede more than the team can score

The likes of Mikel Obbi I doubt if he score more than 10 goals for Chelsea nevertheless I agree fully with him three defenders who have lot of goals too but that depend on which team you are ,West ham was all about Antonio if he can't then ufff soo defending was their lifeline

Leave him alone we we bought him for a particular purpose which is to clear every danger and not goal scoring although if it comes that’s ok but not for being so ambitious for goals and allow openents to do damage 👌

we don't need Rice to score goals. if he can win almost every challenge and win lots of balls back, that will be more than enough.
