Mason Greenwood has reportedly met up with some of his Manchester United team-mates in secret as they 'hear him out' after attempted rape and assault charges against him were dramatically dropped.
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 before being suspended on full pay by Manchester United a short time later after charges of alleged rape and assault were made against him.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service announced on February 2 that subsequent charges had been dropped after 'key witnesses' withdrew their involvement.
After the news was made public, United released a short statement which said: 'Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
'The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.'
And now, according to The Sun, the 21-year-old England international has met with some team-mates, as the squad continue to be divided over whether he should wear a Man United shirt again.
One source told the paper: 'He's reached out to some of the United players, some of them he's known since his academy days.
'They've met up with him in private to hear him out so they can make their own mind up.'
Greenwood, who is unable to train or play for United while the internal investigation is carried out, has also reportedly made contact to other team-mates on social media - some of whom are married with kids.
A second source said: 'There is a level of sympathy for someone who is innocent in the eyes of the law and a long-standing teammate.
'But the players are absolutely focused on keeping this juggernaut on the road.'
The loud background noise around the club comes as Ten Hag's side continue their blistering form - going on a 16-match unbeaten run at home, while they are also in the Carabao Cup final, the FA Cup and the Europa League.
The United boss is understood to have spoken to Greenwood to check on his mental and physical state and to tell him he was 'pleased' the charges had been dropped. The squad are split over Greenwood returning, according to The Times.
Some members of the squad harbour concerns about his return, as is reported to be the case with the women's team, while some possess no objections to Greenwood being welcomed back.
Greenwood first joined United at the age of six and made his debut for the club in 2019, in a victory over French side Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
He has gone on to win a single cap for England, against Iceland in September 2020.

Not being rude. But genuinely, if greenwood , as you heard the recording , did that to your sister for example, would you still give him a second chance?
honestly.. of course not.. 😃 but that's his problem with the woman.. from the woman side of course shouldn't give him another chance.. but I think Man U should give him another chance.. it's a different matter.. if everyone in this world doesn't want to give someone who makes a mistake a second chance, then how he's gonna continue with his life? and a note to remember, mason is still very young.. and we all know that young peoples tend to make a mistake.. a lot of silly mistakes.. it's part of our life.. the important thing is how we all can learn and grow up from the mistakes we had done before.. to be able to do that of course the first thing we need is another chance.. a valuable second chance.. 🙏😇

So by you saying that, you‘ll allow or give a r@pizt a pass because he plays for your favorite club while forgetting that if he plays for man united, he will become even more of a bigger star, could you imagine how many more people he could do that to. If you wouldn’t allow him to do that to your loved ones then why not allow him to do that in general. Stand against it. He used to be one of my favorites but for me, he should not play for us again. Because karma is real. I’m against sexu@l violence or assault, whether it’s done to a person I know or I don’t know. I don’t care if you’re Messi or Ronaldo, or just a cleaner. People should be condemned for their actions. But it’s sad ho footballers are idolized in a sense regardless of what they do to people. We as people have to do better. Manchester United should now allow that guy back again. He got off because of the monetary power he has. Even with evidence, but that’s the power of money and fame. But we have a choice to say “no I don’t want him back at my club, he is not a good representation for the Youth or people in general “
so ..you never make mistake in your life? did peoples forgive you when you done something wrong before? did they give you another chance? I'm sorry ..I'm not a good people like you.. I make mistake a lot in my life .. and I'm grateful that my life surrounded by full of peoples with big heart and full of love.. the forgiveness..the love that they shower to me is priceless.. Love is all we need .. just a little love .. and it can make a big change in our life .. 🙏😇♥️
