Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann will reportedly snub the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, as Luka Modric is set to win.
According to Sky Sport Italia, both the Juventus star and Atletico Madrid forward will opt not to attend the France Football get-together.
There are multiple reports that Modric will become the first Croatian to take the trophy for Player of the Year, as he won the Champions League with Real Madrid and reached the World Cup Final with Croatia.
It’s still not clear who the runners-up will be, as some have pointed to PSG and France striker Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid and France defender Raphael Varane.
Ronaldo had already decided not to attend the Champions League awards ceremony after finding out his former Real Madrid teammate Modric was the winner of the main award.
Griezmann and Atletico Madrid did not hide their frustration when reports emerged he was not even on the Ballon d’Or podium.

Football is a big conspiracy. This shows what money and power can do. Only reason why modric is allowed to win the balon d or is because it will make great headline and money for some entities as the first man to break the Ronaldo-Messi duopoly. They want to change football from just Messi and Ronaldo but they are still the best and nobody comes close.

The Balon dor does not make sense anymore, griezmann won the Europa league world cup UEFA super cup and they have claim reports that modric is going to win it, I think snubbing the ceremony is a right choice, same goes to Ronaldo too, won the champions league and created a new record of 16 goals in the UCL. Modric only won the UCL and the best player in the world cup.

It should be CR7, Messi, and Varane as the final 3 and CR7 winning it, simply because he has been very good throughout the whole year. Varane hasn’t played very well this season, and Messi was awful in UCL QF and the WC. Modric was good during the WC run and nothing else. He’s been god awful since the World Cup and was mediocre before it. I don’t understand the logic behind Modric being picked. Since when has winning the WC or be a runner-up mattered in the BdO? But now all of a sudden the WC is the most influential factor? While I don’t think messi should win, I think it’s ridiculous that he’s not top 3. Modric winning and Messi not making top 3 is just a robbery.
