The Catalan coach is aware of how fortunate he is to be working at a club where the owners are prepared to spend big in pursuit of major honours
Pep Guardiola acknowledges that Manchester City “have a lot of money” but insists that his love for the club runs much deeper than the size of their bank balance.
The Catalan coach has been fortunate to work at some of the biggest clubs in world football during a distinguished coaching career.
Having started out at Barcelona, where he enjoyed unprecedented success, Guardiola has since enjoyed title triumphs at Bayern Munich and City.
He has conquered La Liga, the Bundesliga and Premier League, with every stop having seen him work under boards prepared to splash the cash in order to provide him with the strongest possible squad.
Sheikh Mansour’s billions have allowed him to assemble another star-studded side at the Etihad Stadium, but Guardiola claims money is not everything for him and those at his disposal.
After seeing his record-breaking achievements from 2017-18 acknowledged by the Football Writers’ Association, the City boss said: “I want to share, of course, this award with the whole Manchester City family because I know it’s a real family.
“I know people say we have a lot of money, that’s true, but despite of that it’s incredible the people I’m working with and I’m a lucky guy to be here.
“Thank you so much to make me feel at home in your country here and in Manchester.”
Guardiola says he is living the dream at City, with it having always been an ambition of his to work in England.
He never managed to achieve that during his playing days but is revelling in the opportunity to lead an ambitious outfit towards a bright future from the sidelines.
“I’m fortunate to be here in your country, in England,” said Guardiola.
“It’s incredible, it was a dream from a little boy for a young manager to come here to your country and be a manager here.
“It’s a dream come true.”
Guardiola guided City to a Premier League and Carabao Cup double last season and has his sights locked on more major honours this term.
He has already seen his side lift the Community Shield in 2018-19, while the Blues are once again clear at the top of their domestic table and making positive progress in an ongoing quest to secure a first Champions League crown.

He always chooses a team which has enough finances for his shopping spree. I would consider him a great coach only if he manages to win the league/any cups with limited funds like the rest of the managers have to deal with. Take a look at the clubs he managed; Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City. Klopp was at Borussia Dortmund, and now Liverpool.......to be continued!

Yes it’s true where ever he goes he wins, but let’s be honest here Barcelona he had the best player in the world . Goes to Bayern inherits a team that just won the triple the previous season, then Man city where it was a good team at the time winning the league under Mancini so when a billionaire comes splashes the cash for u and u go out and get what you want ? Yeah you are a great coach ?? but (you wouldn’t be able to do it if you were on a middle of the pack team) Ancelotti did the same thing every where he went he won trophies.. I really think it’s the players the win trophies gelling together experiencing the high and Lowe’s as a team and the will to persevere..

You people always complain about the spending he did in City, what about the glory and money he made for the club? United have been spending without any light to show forth, Spurs have been spending without any light to show forth so as Liverpool spending without any light to show forth, City is good and Pep is a General when it comes to coaching, he met some city players like Aguero, Sterling, Fernandihno, Otamedi, even Delph was not in use, Kevin De Bryune was not in use when he came, he met David Silva but look at the way he transformed those players now to become world class players and big big players that clubs are even wanting in their squad but could not request, Pep is the light, no sentiment about that, every club in the world want him to coach them, give Pep the glory, he deserves it, I greet u my Pep Guardiola for life
