Pep Guardiola feels Manchester City are under-appreciated as they attempt an unprecedented domestic treble.
The City manager claimed winners are never liked as he aims to lift the FA Cup for the first time when they take on Watford at Wembley.
'People don't like winners,' Guardiola said. 'Here, in Spain, in Italy, everywhere. We feel our people are happy with what we have done. I feel our fans in the street, the letters I receive from the people. They are incredibly satisfied.'
Guardiola suggested City are fighting against the weight of history in how Liverpool and Manchester United are viewed in comparison to his team.
'Liverpool have gone 29 years without winning the Premier League β it's normal people are waiting for them finally to win,' he added. 'If Liverpool had won the Premier League it would have been an "incredible" achievement. When City win it is, "oh, it's OK. It's an achievement".
'I think we did an incredible two seasons, but to be the best you have to do it a bit longer. I'm not going to say it's the best when you have Sir Alex Ferguson's period at United or Liverpool and Bob Paisley in the 1980s.
'An example of how important Liverpool and United are is the website for the Daily Mail. The first story (last Monday) is the Paul Pogba discussion with fans at Old Trafford, not that we won the Premier League. It is not because I am not satisfied with the Daily Mail. I know we are not being compared like that (to their rivals) which is why we are incredibly satisfied over the last decade.'

Respect comes by itself after winning a lot of trophy but begging/requesting people to respect you is a great shameful.Liverpool and Man Utd didnβt get that respect by begging people but they got it by working hard and winning a double digit PL and championes league .you need at least 10 years to get the same respection as Man Utd and Liverpool but for now simply enjoy your season unless you will lose the respection that you already have.shamfully do not beg to get a respection but work hard & win a double digit PL respection itself begging you!.

people are not happy and try to compare city with liverpool and man united, you tend to say the players are over signings of super players, compare the city team in terms of signings with dat of say united?? which is more expensive?? a club with the highest signing of 65000β¬ u will want to compare with united team?? he was in barca, people complain, he went to bayern u guys are still complaining, now he is at city and doing wonders, you guys are still complaining. some even ask if city has fans? yes they do and am proud to be one. in life u must start from somewhere and city will win the champions league as the years goes by. try and keep away your mind of criticism and appreciate good foodball from man city, they are not the best but they are one of the best in Europe.

Guardiola needs to understand that United and Liverpool are much much bigger club than City and for city to get to that level needs a consistent champions performance for next 10-15 years and United and Liverpool needs to consistently fail for the same time. City may have the money , the players and trophies but they havr mostly fake fans and glory hunters.

Well spoken Pep the English press and its hypocrisy. They are quick to brandish and report stories about Man U and Liverpool and almost all pundits in English are from Man U or Liverpool. I think Kloop would have been Knighted had Liverpool won the league and pundits like Ian Wright full of Jealousy and gloom would sit every Friday and hope City loose a match for Liverpool to leapfrog them but the Best is always the best and they all are put yo shame. it's a shame we witnessed one of the greatest championship battles of all times and not enough respect is shown to the winners. As a United fan I appreciate you Pep for what you have done with city but for respect my friend you have to earn it by lifting CL & EPL.. Till then keep winning as its just a matter of time before we rise and you fall.. Sooner or later man United will stand tall and others will fall...
Let's hope for the best..
Glory glory man United as the Reds go marching on [Comeon]
