Pep Guardiola joked he will take Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger out for dinner after joining a list of managers to win 250 top-tier games at one club.
Guardiola brought up his 250th victory in the Premier League as Manchester City overcame Brentford 1-0 on Sunday.
Erling Haaland's ninth-minute strike proved decisive, as Guardiola reached the milestone of wins in his 349th match (D50 L49).
He became the fastest manager to reach 250 wins in charge of an English top-flight club. Manchester United legend Ferguson needed 404 games to reach that landmark, while Arsenal great Wenger required 423 matches. Current Everton boss David Moyes took 645 fixtures.
"I would invite all of them to dinner," quipped Guardiola when the statistic was put to him by Sky Sports.
"I think it's an honour to sit at the same table as then. It's 10 seasons – it's many games.
"Of course, 250 victories is a lot. Maybe it's faster for one reason – because we won a lot.
"I didn't know [about] it, it's nice. I will call them to go [for dinner] one day. I will let you know."
City have scored more Premier League goals in 2025 (55) than any other side, and also now have the joint-most wins in the competition this calendar year (16, level with Liverpool), though they passed up several chances to add to their lead at the Gtech Community Stadium, making for a cagey finish.
"We had an outstanding first half – we were close to our best in many things," Guardiola said.
"The problem is when you have chances and don't score goals, and the goalkeeper made good saves, so a 1-0 is very difficult in the second half.
"In general, really pleased, since the Manchester United game the team grew up a lot.
"The process was really good. From my experience, when we win, it’s because we played good. At 1-0, anything can happen. We defended really well. Last season here, we couldn't win. We have [won] this season."

Simply the best coach EPL has ever had, but of course they won't accept it. Truth isn't always easy to digest.

To gloat about his record. PL diminished its value when it didn't take recognizance of City's debauchery
