Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes the Reds have knocked Manchester United off their perch.
The German explained that after winning the Champions League and the Premier League within 12 months, that Jurgen Klopp's side are now the club that top players want to join in England.
He told the Mirror: 'When I was a player, the club everyone wanted to join was Manchester United. You knew that signing for United guaranteed you winners' medals.
'They were the biggest club, the club that everyone inside and outside England spoke about.
'Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, United have suffered on the pitch. And with perfect timing, Jurgen Klopp has come in and made Liverpool the club everyone wants to join.
'In that respect, he has knocked United off their perch.'
Despite the praise for his former club, Hamann admitted he does not believe the Reds will form a Premier League dynasty due to the strength of other clubs in the league.
'I am not sure Liverpool will dominate the Premier League like United did – because Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will have something to say about that.
'But Liverpool are five years ahead of United – and London's big clubs are even further behind.
'Klopp has four years left on his contract – and by the time that is up he will want to get past United's 20 titles and also win the Champions League again.'

The guys is just salty from the old wounds his jealousy of United caused Sir Alex Ferguson came and "Knocked Liverpool of their fxcking Perch" so he is here trying to even the score which makes him fucking Pathetic because United last won EPL 7 years ago and this is Liverpool's first so if you ask me United pretty much knocked themselves out by not planning for Sir Alex Ferguson"s inevitable retirement and then making poor signing decisions for both players and coaches on numerous repeated occasions it's Ed Woodward that knocked us of our Perch and not Liverpool, they(pool) didn't take the title or the top spit directly from us instead they took it from Chelsea and City because those were the teams that we're winning the league before pool

Interestingly, in reality, not many players actually wants to join Liverpool. They know it's difficult to displace their XI especially their front 3. Players like Sancho and Mbappe would rather join a team where they can start than stay on the bench. As much as I respect Liverpool, because of this fact, I don't think they can last that long at the top. They don't exactly have a squad with great depth and their academy is nowhere near good (Trent is the only consisten academy player in the XI). That said, Liverpool still did well this season and the previous. Hats off to them! BUT Man U will be back!!! #GGMU
