Fresh from his Golden Boot success in Russia, Harry Kane was hoping some of that Midas touch would rub off at Carnoustie.
The England captain took part in Sky Sports' 99 yard challenge, where professionals and enthusiastic celebrity hackers compete for top spot on the leaderboard.
With the live cameras rolling, Kane stepped up to show off his prowess with a wedge in hand, attempting to land the ball as close as possible to the 100 yard marker.
The Tottenham striker is deadly accurate with a ball at his feet and not too shabby with a golf club either.
His shot with the 56 degree wedge landed at 91.9 yards, tracked by Sky's technology for a precise reading and beating Jordan Pickford's attempt after the goalkeeper only managed 85 yards on Thursday.
Eddie Pepperell remains top of the leaderboard, landing his withing a yard of the marker.
And Kane, who plays off four, was relishing the chance to witness some world class golf at the Open with so many players in contention to win the claret jug on the final day.
'I'm here to watch the English lads, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and just take it from there,' he said of his plan for the afternoon.
And the 24-year-old reflected on England's exploits at the World Cup now that the dust has settled on their campaign.
'I still get flashbacks, obviously thinking about what could have been, but we were proud to reconnect with our fans and bring the whole country together.
'We'd have loved to have gone on and won it but we've got the Euros in a couple of years and it's good that everyone is going to be excited for that,' he added.
Kane will return to Tottenham training after an extended break before the start of the Premier League season, and he believes Mauricio Pochettino's side can be title contenders.
'Of course we can challenge for the title, it will take a very very good season, City obviously had an amazing year last year but the Premier League is tough and it doesn't always happen like that.'

What is it that makes Harry Kane and side kick Gareth Southgate believe that they have brought the UK together? Particularly after there sacrificing 22 players ambitions, and careers, and the hopes of the nation, all for one player, his career, and a mean nothing because of how it was acquired, golden boot?
