Hazard enters list of top 10 most expensive signings in history

At a cost of 100 million euros, Eden Hazard's move to Real Madrid has placed him among the top 10 most expensive signings in football history.

Real Madrid topped this list when they signed Gareth Bale for 101 million euros in 2013 but have seen their world-record beaten seven times since.

Here are the top 10 most expensive signings in history before Hazard's move was completed.

Cristiano Ronaldo - 96 million euros in 2009

Los Blancos smashed the world-record transfer fee a decade ago when they brought in Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. The Portuguese star had already won the Champions League with the Red Devils and was seen as the talisman of Real Madrid going forward.

Neymar - 103.5 million euros in 2013

Although Barcelona said that they'd paid just 54 million euros to Santos for the Brazilian youngster, the actual value of the transfer was higher than 100 million euros.

Gareth Bale - 101 million euros in 2013

Real Madrid also made a big signing of their own in 2013, bringing Gareth Bale to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham for 101 million euros.

Paul Pogba - 105 million euros plus five million in bonuses in 2016

Having lost Neymar to PSG, Barcelona immediately spent some of the money they'd earnt on Dembele. The initial fee the Catalan club paid to Borussia Dortmund was 105 million euros but there were 40 million more in bonuses in the contract.

Philippe Coutinho - 120 million euros plus 40 million in bonuses in 2018

Liverpool were forced to sell their most prised asset in January 2018 and Barcelona will keep paying the English club money as certain clauses are triggered.
