Henderson accuses journalist of making fake claims about his failed Monaco move

Ajax captain Jordan Henderson clashed with a Dutch journalist in a remarkable exchange at a press conference after Sunday's 2-1 win over Feyenoord.

The game itself was pretty dramatic, with Kenneth Taylor scoring a 94th-minute winner. However, the real fireworks came later.

Henderson - who had played the full 90 minutes - took issue with one journalist for asking him to elaborate on recent reports that he had tried to force through a move to AS Monaco.

It was reported earlier in the week that Henderson had threatened to refuse to play for the club again if Ajax did not agree a deal with the French Ligue 1 outfit.

The story took another twist on Thursday night when Henderson played 77 minutes in Ajax's 2-1 win over Galatasaray in the Europa League - but not as captain. However, he wore the captain's armband again on Sunday.

After Sunday's game, Henderson faced the media and things got real frosty, real fast.

Henderson was asked: 'Can you say, Jordan, why you wanted to make a transfer to Monaco?'

After staring back at the journalist, an aggravated Henderson replied: 'Based on what, again?'

Henderson and the reporter then went back and forth for almost two minutes, during which the ex-England star said that claims he had told the coach he wanted to leave because Monaco had made him a 'big offer' were 'not true.'

Towards the end of the press conference, Henderson delivered a defiant speech.

He said: 'There are people sitting in this room who questioned my professionalism, it's bang out of order. My family had to read nonsense from you.'
