According to exclusive reporting by journalist César Luis Merlo and Romano, 40-year-old Javier Mascherano will resign as the head coach of Argentina U20 and take over as the coach of Inter Miami. Subsequently, Argentine media outlet TyC also confirmed that Mascherano will sign a three-year contract with Inter Miami.

The reporter stated that Mascherano will become the new head coach of Inter Miami. The club has already exchanged documents with the Argentine, who will sign a long-term contract. Mascherano will step down from his position as the head coach of Argentina U20 and instead coach Lionel Messi.

Mascherano started his career at River Plate. In 2006, he landed in Europe and joined West Ham United. In 2007, Mascherano was loaned to Liverpool, and a year later, Liverpool bought out his contract for £20.25 million. In 2010, Mascherano joined Barcelona. Until he joined Hebei China Fortune in 2018, Mascherano made 334 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 1 goal and providing 8 assists. After retiring in 2020, Mascherano has served as the head coach of Argentina U20 since January 2022. Last year, his team failed to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Mascherano also coached the Argentina Olympic team and finally led the team to qualify for the Paris Olympics. At the Paris Olympics, the team advanced from the group stage with 2 wins and 1 loss, but lost 0-1 to the French team in the quarter-finals.

It is reported that Inter Miami's current head coach, Tata Martino, has resigned for personal reasons and the official announcement is coming.
