The supremo admits that the German giants are planning for the biggest investment in players the club have ever had
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has confirmed that the club will be involved in a summer spending spree as they look to refurbish an ageing squad that endured a poor start to the 2018-19 season.
September through until November saw the Bundesliga champions struggle for consistency, with a number of losses and draws seeing Borussia Dortmund rocket up the table to leave Bayern coach Niko Kovac's future hanging in the balance.
The Bavarians have since rescued their form somewhat, now matching Dortmund on points in domestic competition, although a recent 3-1 defeat to Liverpool saw them dumped out of the Champions League at the round of 16.
Better performances are required from the German giants if they are to lift another European trophy, but with star players such as Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben entering the final years of their careers, new blood may be needed to reach the desired level.
Bayern have wrapped up deals for Alphonso Davies and Benjamin Pavard – who will arrive in the summer – while the likes of Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso still have plenty of time to develop, but club supremo Hoeness says it will not end there.
“We are in the process of rejuvenating our team,” he said at a brokerage fair in Munich. “It's the biggest investment programme FC Bayern has ever had.”
It remains to be seen whether Colombia star James Rodriguez will make his loan move from Real Madrid permanent, but good form at a domestic level this season could force the hand of the money men in Bavaria.
“It all depends on what our coach decides," Hoeness recently told Sport1 of James' potential stay in Germany.
“If he [Kovac] says he wants James for next season, we'll pay the €42 million. It is up to us what happens.
“We have an option we can either trigger before May or not. If we decide that's what we will do, he will have to stay. But we haven't yet made any decision on the subject."
In addition, Bayern have been credited with an €80 million bid for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, while Atletico Madrid's World Cup winner Lucas Hernandez and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi are said to remain on the club's transfer wish-list.

this is just ignorance. How do you expect lewa to make an impact when the rest of the team can't even get the ball to him. yes he hasn't shown up as we expect him to in big games but he still is the best striker in the world.

So I went on and looked up our spendings in the last years: Season 17/18 we spent the most ever with 113 million in a window. However, more interestingly we spent 07/08 around 95 million in a single window. In today's market that would be way more than the 113 million. If he says "were going to spend like we never did before" to imply not only splashing the spending record but also splashing it by a huge margin than I think we can be sure that we will spend a lot more than 200 millions.

he says james future is in kovac's hands then he wants to keep kovac, if kovac stays in bayern we have no hope in ucl no matter how much bayern invest in the summer
everyone deserfs a chance, is not becouse of him we were out of ucl. we were last year, year before and year before that. I think is boards who keeps make mistakes every year. We have more money in our bank than any team in europe. But the hard truth is that we have been greed for very long time. It time to invest in our team. we have to replace 5 player. we have a lot young player who need chance.

If this is even close to Summer 2007, it’ll be fun as hell. If it’s every other summer since then...

Exciting times. Will have thoughts and an opinion once contracts are signed and players presented. I learned from the past.

With Kovac staying? That could all be a waste. Unless he stops with his small club mentality.

The highest amount Bayern spend in one season was about 120 million euros, so it is no surprise we will invest like we did never before...

I hope we do, but this constant teasing is annoying and probably not really smart business wise. Can’t help too much with negotiations, I would wager. Also, there is the possibility that we do spend a lot, but spread it over a bunch of mediocre players instead of few really great players. We need quality not just quantity.

Bayern being a world class team that doesn’t spend like one is something I always took pride in, but those times are over. Now that even mid table teams in England spend more than us we’re forced to start spending like the rest.

30 years without reaching a champions league quarter final stage with your coach Arsene wenger.Useless manager of all time.Bayern munich dont need Arsene wenger and Niko Kovac still the best for Bayern.Mia San Mia! In 2 years time Bayern munich will win the Champions league with Niko Kivac as manager.
bro i am not the fan of arsene, but i still feel he is better than Niko. he reached UCL final back in 2006, won the league undefeated as well. the only problem was he hadn't had fortune like fergie. with no probem for money, he can do hell of a job in bayern. he can shape young player's as well fabregas, van persie are the examples. next season there gonna be lot of young player's, we need experience coach for them to be masterclass, wenger is the perfect fit for bayern.
