Rasmus Hojlund believes the media portrayed a picture that was not always entirely accurate of his happiness at Manchester United.
The Denmark striker joined the Red Devils from Atalanta in a deal reportedly worth £72m in August 2023.
However, Hojlund struggled to be a consistent goal threat at Old Trafford, scoring 26 times in 95 outings across all competitions during his first two seasons.
United opted to send Hojlund to Napoli on loan for the 2025-26 campaign, and he has 14 goals in 37 games since returning to Italy.
However, Hojlund feels that the way his situation in Manchester was often described did not tally with his actual experience.
Speaking to TV2 Sport, Hojlund said: "I was happy to play football in Manchester.
"I know that, especially in Denmark, the media created an image that everything was all just s*** and terrible, and that I played terrible football, but that's not how I look at it.
"The media has so much to say in this football world, and it's hard not to be influenced.
"But there's a lot more to it, and that's why I always stick to the importance of never flying too high and, conversely, never diving too low."
Hojlund is part of the Denmark squad preparing for a World Cup play-off semi-final against North Macedonia on Thursday.
Should they win that fixture, they will progress to face either the Republic of Ireland or Czechia for a place at the tournament.
