Hojlund to discuss contract terms with Napoli today as he prepares to leave MU

United spending £74M to sign Sesko from RB Leipzig has brought Hojlund’s role under manager Ruben Amorim to an end this summer. The Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and it is no secret that Amorim wants him out of the squad before the end of the transfer window in just over a week’s time.

Napoli have returned to the transfer market in an attempt to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to miss several months of the 2025-26 campaign after picking up an injury during in pre-season. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano it looks like the Serie A giants are aiming to land Hojlund as contract talks begin.

“Napoli are set to send contract proposal to Rasmus Højlund as talks with Manchester United are proceeding.

“Decision up to Højlund with contract terms set to be discussed from today, as several clubs are interested in him.”

Hojlund is part of a group of United outcasts in the so called “bomb squad” that also includes Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia. If the Danish star does make the move to Italy there is a belief that any loan would include an obligation for the transfer to become permanent next summer.

Chelsea had the same clause in the loan deal for Jadon Sancho 12 months ago, but instead chose to pay a penalty fee that saw the striker return to Old Trafford which could be the same case for Hojlund if he underperforms.
