How did Manchester United fail to score first? How did Romelu Lukaku miss from there?
Danny Rose's short backpass was a gift and Lukaku got to the ball before Hugo Lloris. He's left the Tottenham goalkeeper on the floor behind him.
It isn't from that tight of an angle. That was an absolute gimme. That should have been Manchester United 1, Spurs 0.
Some will say it was on his wrong foot. He hit it with his right when he prefers his left. At this level, you have to take those opportunities, no matter what. Even more so in such an important match as this against one of your direct Premier League rivals.
Has that not been one of the criticisms levelled at Lukaku in the past? They say the £75million striker does not do enough in the big games. For a player of his quality, he has to score that chance.
How costly it proved, as Tottenham took control in the second half through Harry Kane and Lucas Moura.

The answer is quite easy ... it is because Lukaku is a defender i still can't believe why Mourinho keeps choosing him. Please next season trade him with a quality striker.A striker who is good all round and a very good finisher

If Lukaku put away 50% of his chances, he would be the top scorer in the EPL, how many times he seems to be looking for his favored left foot and by the time he finds it the chance has already gone, it his level as a center forward, using both feet is a given because defences don't give you a second chance, you have to take the opening when it comes and he doesn't have that ability, an example is Aguero, it doesn't matter what side the ball is on, he can strike it with both feet, these are the little qualities that separate a good player from a great one, Lukaku is just a good player on a great team

Breaking News! Sky Sports reports that before the Spurs game, Lukaku was watching Fernando Torres's video of missing an open goal opportunity and it is reported that he was heavily inspired by it. The search history also showed Karim Benzema's last season stats page. Stay tuned for more...
