How footballers celebrated Valentine's Day

Saturday marked Valentine's Day but with the majority of footballers involved with a football match, it may not be too surprising that there wasn't too many public shows of affection on social media.

However, for Jude Bellingham he was able to combine the two loves of his life in a different way to most.

The Real Madrid star is currently out injured with a hamstring injury sustained at the start of the month.

And while his injury allowed him to spend time with his girlfriend Ashlyn Castro, he ensured he also didn't miss out on supporting his team-mates too by combining the both together.

Bellingham, 22, was pictured alongside Castro, 28, watching Real's 4-1 thumping win over Real Sociedad in LaLiga on Saturday night in the VIP section at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Over in England, Arsenal were one of the few teams not in action on Saturday, allowing their star winger Bukayo Saka to demonstrate his romantic side.

His fiancee Tolami Benson shared a picture of her large bouquet of flowers that Saka bought her on her Instagram story, alongside the caption: 'My Forever Valentine X'.

Arsenal play bitter rivals Tottenham in the Premier League next Sunday and Spurs have a free weekend currently after being knocked out of the FA Cup third round.

Their striker Richarlison was snapped in a series of affectionate photos with his model girlfriend Amanda Araujo.

Taking to her Instagram, Araujo posted four photos of the pair out together in London with the caption: 'My Valentine'.

The last photo in particular was eye-catching with Araujo licking the Spurs star's face.

Alexis Mac Allister was one footballer who did play on Valentine's but did also dedicate space for his loved one.

The Argentine started in midfield in Liverpool's 3-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over his former club Brighton on Saturday night but before kick-off he paid homage to his girlfriend Ailen Cova with a few photos of them together.

Perhaps, the biggest Valentine's story was the marriage of former Rangers boss Russell Martin to former Page Three girl Lucy Pinder.

The ex-Celebrity Big Brother star shared a photo of the couple on their wedding day, with Pinder wearing a white, short-sleeved dress.

The model wrapped her arm around Russell's neck as they shared a kiss after saying 'I do'.

Their relationship was revealed in August 2024 when she attended his honorary degree ceremony at the University of Brighton.

It was said at the time that they had grown close in recent months and were 'smitten' with each other.
