Premier League newcomers have overcome all odds to BEAT giants Manchester United by 2-1 thanks to goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre. Man United are now 5 points behind leaders and arch-rivals City.
For Huddersfield Town it was one of the most momentous results in club history, but Manchester United and Victor Lindelof will want to quickly forget Saturday’s 2-1 loss in West Yorkshire as the Swede endured a nightmare afternoon which leaves his side five points behind neighbours City.
In a showcase of the romance football is truly capable of, a team playing only their ninth Premier League match and having scored just once in six games toppled the previously-unbeaten 20-time league champions.
But Jose Mourinho will not see the funny side after watching Lindelof undergo a torrid exam as Manchester City simultaneously kept up their lightning start to the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Burnley.
MATCH ACTIONS:
9: Flashpoint off the ball here. Martial and Smith square up after a hefty challenge by the Huddersfield man, and Lee Mason gives both players a booking.
His challenge was high, and Martial got up and flicked his boot against the heel of Smith. Petulant stuff.
16: Silly from Martial. Williams is going nowhere, the Frenchman makes a needless challenge, and it's a free-kick to the hosts. On a yellow, Martial needs to calm down.
Mooy takes the free-kick, it's very dangerous, and Lukaku has to hook it away ahead of Schindler!
24: Bad news for United. Phil Jones being Phil Jones, he looks to have tweaked his hamstring while battling near the corner flag. He's been superb so far this afternoon.
Lindelof being readied on the sideline and eventually replaces Jones.
28: GOAL! HUDDERSFIELD 1-0 MAN UNITED (Mooy)
What a noise! Huddersfield are ahead!
Aaron Mooy puts pressure on Mata in midfield, as Huddersfield have done for the entire first half, and the Spaniard loses out easily.
Mooy races forward, feeds Ince in the area, his turn and shot is blocked by De Gea, but it falls to Mooy 10 yards out. He finds the right corner, cue jubilation int he stands!
34: GOAL! HUDDERSFIELD 2-0 MAN UNITED (Depoitre)
Oh dear, oh dear. Lindelof, having just come on for Jones, is at fault here.
It's a long, long ball forward from the Huddersfield defence, Lindelof is under it but almost ducks his head as the ball comes to him, allowing Depoitre to race onto it behind him. He rounds De Gea, and slots it into the empty net!
Unbelievable start by the hosts here!
38: PENALTY APPEAL! Nothing given, but a big shout by United. Kachunga's momentum takes him into Herrera on the edge, and I've seen those given. Herrera is fuming.
46: Back underway here, and United have made 2 remaining changes.
Mata is off, so too is Martial, Rashford and Mkhitaryan come on. That's all of Mourinho's subs used by the start of the second half!
61: Free-kick to United on the left. Rashford takes, and Huddersfield play the offside trap. Only one player is offside, at the back post, and Herrera at the near post turns the ball wide! Half chance...
78' GOAL! HUDDERSFIELD 2-1 MAN UNITED (Rashford)
GAME ON! It's the sub Rashford who gets United back into the game with a back-post header.
It's fine work by Lukaku on the right, getting to the byline, turning and sticking in a nice deep cross. Zanka gets caught under it, but Rashford's header into the ground beats Lossl.
Twelve minutes to get another!

Mourinho underestimated...Martial is never good to start...I don’t understand Why he chose to play Martial lingard and Mata in this match... at least micky or Rashford has to start.. This was shameful...Mourinho should point fingers to other coaches...Manchester has more worries with injuries Jones getting injured was the real loss...

MU will not win the PL while cash grabbing sulky Jose is in charge. Just wants to desperately move to PSG and in his words “To Paris” No wonder players look and play as if they don’t care a damn.

United won 3-0 that day 46 years ago but you have to go back to March 1952 for the last time a Huddersfield team beat United. So this really was a small slice of local modern history
