Real Madrid have reportedly prioritised the signing of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in the upcoming summer placing him above William Saliba and Ibrahima Konate.
It is understood that the Galacticos' sporting directors are already planning the squad for the next year and see the 19-year-old Spaniard as a leading contender for the defensive spot.
The centre back position became the Los Blancos board's aim after several issues drained the line during this season.
Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba have both missed numerous significant games this term, while Eder Militao suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, which will keep him sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
According to Marca, Madrid have intensified their interest after Huijsen received his first call-up for Spain's senior team, following the withdrawal of injured Barcelona centre-back Inigo Martinez.
Initially, the youngster was meant to feature for the Under 21s squad, but a confident performance for Bournemouth this term convinced Luis de la Fuente that he is capable of forming a link with either Pau Cubarsi or potential Madrid team-mate Raul Asencio.
The defensive line remained the weakest in Madrid's team, and although Asencio saw a rise in the starting squad, Los Blancos are still attempting to strengthen the centre back position.
Previous reports stated that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring Saliba or Konate to the Spanish capital, and it is thought that they still remain on the list should Huijsen's arrival collapse.
Furthermore, the report highlights that Los Blancos want to swiftly move for the player's signature in order to avoid a similar scenario to last summer when Leny Yoro's deal was hijacked by Manchester United.
It is believed that Huijsen will be available for just £50million due to a release clause in his contract.
However, Madrid will have to consider the future of their current centre backs as most of them are still under contract - such as Alaba until 2026 or Militao until 2028.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, face a mammoth task to keep hold of a number of their stars amid their attempt to qualify for the Champions League football next campaign.
Huijsen started 18 times out of his 23 Premier League games this season and scored two goals.

As a Barca fan, Madrid would only shoot themselves in the foot if this happens. Seems like people are so quick to forget Joan Martinez. But oh well, this is why Madrid academy is subpar.
