'I need to carry on & score more' - Salah aims to score 100 goals for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is aiming to score 100 goals for Liverpool and help the club win trophies.

The Egyptian superstar won the Premier League's Golden Boot award by netting 44 times in his maiden campaign at Anfield last season - which also helped him to lift the PFA Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year accolades.

Despite the winger's personal success, the Reds ended up missing out on silverware last season - having lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid in May.

Now Salah says he is going to put that right because when he arrived on Merseyside to play for Liverpool his dream was to win Europe's premier competition for Jurgen Klopp's side.

“What I have achieved with Liverpool is something great, when I look back,” the winger told BBC Sport.

“When I came here at the beginning, I had a dream and things in my mind I wanted to achieve.

“We were very close to one of them but we lost in the final. But I think we are on the way and I am happy about what we are doing.

“To motivate myself, the team comes first – we need to win titles and we need to achieve something together. That’s something that always motivates me.

“Last season we were very close but in the end we didn’t win anything.

“That’s something that motivates me much more than individual awards.

“I want to win something for the club because I love the club. I want to win something here.”

Salah’s goal-scoring form has continued this season despite the Reds' attack not quite hitting the scintillating heights of last season.

The Egyptian scored became the quickest player to score 50 goals for Liverpool as he notched up his half-century against Red Star Belgrade last month in what was just his 65th appearance for the club.

It was a record time for a Liverpool player to reach the half-century mark but now he has his eyes on doubling that total.

The Egyptian ace added: “I’m glad about that. I’m always very happy and proud to break records, especially records at a club like Liverpool.

“Being the fastest player to score 50 goals for the club is something great. But I need to carry on and score more goals – I’m looking forward to 100!”
