During his Feyenoord days Arne Slot considered signing former Tottenham and Everton forward Arnaut Danjuma - only to tell him how bad he was when they met to discuss the move
Former Tottenham and Everton star Arnaut Danjuma was once on Arne Slot's radar and the forward went to his house to discuss a possible move - only to be told "how bad he was" for an hour. That was during his Feyenoord days and a move never materialised.
Danjuma, who has won six caps for the Netherlands, was at Villarreal who were competing in the Champions League. Feyenoord came knocking as they sought to bring him back to his homeland, but Slot was scathing in his assessment of the player.
Danjuma played for Bournemouth, Tottenham and Everton during his time in the Premier League. He's now back in Spain with Girona but had numerous conversations with the Liverpool boss as a move was considered.
However in a humbling meeting the forward, who had become one of the leading lights at Villarreal, met Slot but was told in no uncertain terms where his weaknesses were.
He told Ziggo Sport: "At that time I had a really good conversation with Arne Slot. That was one of many times that there was contact. It's just to indicate that it's very contextual. At that time I had the luxury of going to Arne Slot's house and listening to him for an hour how bad I was. I'll never forget it."
Despite having to face the music Danjuma was mightly impressed by Slot and the way he communicated with him. His prediction for him proved to be true with the Dutchman succeeding Jurgen Klopp and winning the Premier League in his first year despite few tipping Liverpool to land the title.
He said: "I actually thought that was very strong. It convinced me of how good he is as a trainer. He opened his laptop and showed his plans and project. Everyone knew that Slot would be a good trainer. He showed me my own game. What I did well, but then also what I did badly, what I could improve. That also appealed to me immediately.
"His way of doing things, his way of acting and his way of talking, were all things that made me think: this is someone I could play well under. In the end I didn't do it. At the time, Champions League football was also connected to it. So for me it's very contextual."
Slot's composure and smart tactics earned huge praise during his first year in England. The Dutchman made subtle tweaks to aid the team that he inherited from Klopp. Now, after landing the title, he's looked to evolve the team and has been aggressive in the transfer market, breaking the British transfer record to land Florian Wirtz.

the only things that helps slot was that he stick to this 4-3-3formation if nit Liverpool wound have fall apart and thinks to klopp for finding solutions to that midfield and everything becomes easy for slot and kudos π to Mar Allister, gravangansh and other for their enthusiasm π and to all Liverpool fun for supporting slot to achieve success
The best coaches don't buy every player they see. Look at Manu they spent a lot and got nothing. Look at Arsenal they als9 spent a lot and are competitive but have heed really weak at times. Liverpool was not that strong at the end of Klopp's spell. Slott has brought new life to the team. Klopp was smart to quit he was tired for sure. At this level there are not many that can stay on top. Klopp is a tactition and deserves it all. PSG beat them and I knew they would win right then. They deserved it for sure they have a great team and I am happy to see the win. Real was over run buy all the stars that step on each other.. Barca is next if Nico goes there tehy will be killer. Futball is great.

the only thing that helped Liverpool was cuz none of their key players were injured all through the season. that really helped them. imagine man City with all the injuries but still finished 3rd then just imagine if all their players were fit enough
And why do you think they had less injuries? Huh? Could it be the coach's strategy and use of players? Or maybe the physical therapists recovery plans? Or maybe the transfers and players they get? Huh luck favors the prepared man. If I give 2 people 1 million dollars do you think both will do well? Would you count on luck? Little man.

Please people should say what is correct, Slot doesn't use 4 3 3, just appreciate him for the wonderful job he did, without signing players
He had a strong settled team..

you need to give the current gaffer more credit. he did what klopp didn't dare to, to play gravenchberch as a 6, genius touch and see how Gravenberch is flourishing as a player now. played Diaz as a false nine with reasonable success. he instilled the confidence in the players to let them know they have the attributes to play in other positions. This is not to take away anything for what Klopp had done for us. I love both. in the end, whoever is managing or playing for us, I loves them. Whether they did well or not. I still loves Nunez cause I truly understand and believes YNWA!!

The Slot formation changes depending on whether the team is on the ball or off the ball. I think Slot deserves more credit than you are suggesting. I agree with you that JΓΌrgen was an outstanding manager.
