The understanding is that we sack them because the results are not good enough, patience has run out and we see no prospects of a turnaround.
Then comes the next question: if results are bad is that necessarily the coach’s fault? And would sacking him, and replacing him, deliver good results?
Bad results can be the fault of the coach or the players or a combination of both. Sometimes blame can even be levelled at the hierarchy, the board?
As an observer I have often asked, if a failing coach has been hired why do the people who hired him, the board, get off scot free? Why don’t they get sacked too?
Ineptitude by the board in making coaching appointments can be demonstrable. In 2012 the Melbourne Victory board sacked Mehmet Durakovic, who was failing, and appointed Jim Magilton in his place. The bad results continued and soon Magilton was gone, too. On reflection neither Durakovic nor Magilton should have been chosen. A season had been wasted. And who was to blame for that?

When you do not see the impact of the coach on the team . The team has no philosophy and is losing many games that he shouldn’t be. There has to be a point where the coach intervene and impose his will, if that never happens or cannot happen, the coach has to go . And thats why as much as i hate to say it and it saddens me , Wenger needs to be sacked after today if he doesnt resign . Pathetic .

Medius from Tanzania. I think coaches should be sacked in the following situations.
(1). When they end up without qualifying in any champion next seasons because if the team doesn't qualify for any champion next seasons it won't be having any achievement apart from becoming champions in their league.
(2). When the loose games against small teams because owners of teams spends a lot of expenses to buy great and expensive players.
