Inside Abramovich's life in Istanbul as ex-Chelsea owner rents ￡40k a month home

EX-CHELSEA owner Roman Abramovich has a mysterious new life renting an Istanbul mansion for £40,000 a month.

The Russian oligarch's compound is hidden behind barbed wire on the coast of the city where Manchester City clinched the Treble on Saturday.

The Mirror suggest Turkish locals know little about the 56-year-old as he adjusts to the consequences of Vladimir Putin invading Ukraine.

Todd Boehly's consortium completed their £4.5billion buy-out of Chelsea in May 2022.

It ended Abramovich's 19-year reign at Stamford Bridge after sanctions imposed over Russia launching war on their neighbouring country.

Now he is thought to have settled in a home overlooking the Bosporus Strait in a rich neighbourhood of Istanbul called Anadolu Hisari.

Such a view - on the Asian side of a waterway linking the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara - is one reason Abramovich's rent is so expensive.

The billionaire pays around 50,000 dollars each month (£40k) to property owner Ahmet Okumus, a famous stock market player.

But the Mirror say there are few signs of anyone living in the mansion.

And it appears residents are unable - or unwilling - to shed any light.

A Turkish media outlet reportedly sent a drone for a peek around the area six months ago.

But spotting Abramovich in December proved as elusive as sighting Santa Claus in June.

It's certainly an exotic location, though - just past a medieval fortress.

That stronghold, Anadoluhisarı, was built between 1393 and 1394 as part of the Ottoman Empire.

But nowadays, following empty claims he was taking over a Turkish football club, it's Abramovich who is perhaps looking for a new dynasty.
