Lautaro Martinez scored a brace, which included a 91st-minute winner as Inter came from two goals down to beat Napoli 3-2 in Serie A.
Match Report
Matteo Politano and Rasmus Hojlund had put Napoli in a commanding position early in the second half before Lautaro Martinez started the comeback.
Marcus Thuram then pulled Inter level, but it was their captain who stepped up just as the clock ticked past 90 minutes to ensure the reigning champions maintained their 100% start.
Josep Martinez had to make a double save early on to keep out Frank Anguissa and Politano, while Francesco Pio Esposito headed narrowly wide at the other end.
Inter almost went ahead just before half-time as Federico Dimarco bent a stunning free-kick from just outside the box against the corner of the goal frame.
However, Napoli came out fighting in the second half; Inter got caught playing out from the back, and though Politano's first shot was blocked, he reacted quickly to turn it into the bottom-left corner with his second attempt just five minutes after the break.
And three minutes later, Hojlund doubled their lead. The hosts were caught napping on a quick free-kick, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo slid in the Dane, who drilled past a wrong-footed Josep Martinez.
But Inter had pulled one back in the 56th minute as Lautaro Martinez pounced on Dimarco's pullback, with Alex Meret drawn out to the ball, leaving the goal gaping.
Thuram then hit the post with a cushioned header as Inter stepped up their attempts for an equaliser, which the Frenchman found in the 82nd minute as he rose high to thump in Carlos Augusto's cross.
Anguissa and Thuram both saw chances go begging as it looked like the teams were heading for a draw, but Lautaro Martinez had the final say, stretching to poke the ball beyond Meret after Manuel Akanji had kept it alive in the crowded box.
Martinez gets off the mark at the perfect time
Lautaro Martinez was still waiting to score his first Serie A goal of the season heading into this game, but he ended that duck at the best time, earning a vital three points for Inter.
He got his first just when the game looked like it was getting away from Inter, and he was alert to the danger right at the death, with none of the Napoli players spotting him in time to stop the winner from hitting the back of the net.
The Argentinian has now scored 134 goals for Inter, making him the outright third-top goalscorer for the club in Serie A, behind only Giuseppe Meazza (197) and Benito Lorenzi (138).
Inter were deserving of their victory, peppering Napoli's goal with 29 shots worth 3.19 expected goals (xG), though only eight of those were on target. The visitors had seven shots on target from 16, accumulating 2.24 xG.
For the first time in their history, Inter came from two goals down to beat Napoli in a Serie A match, and it will be a hard pill to swallow for Massimiliano Allegri.
In his first match back at San Siro since being sacked by AC Milan at the end of last season, he saw his team drop points against their title rivals and record back-to-back defeats, meaning they are already six points behind Inter in the table.
