Inter are reportedly considering a return for Mateo Kovavic, as an alternative to Luka Modric.
The midfielder left the Nerazzurri in 2015 to join Real Madrid, but this season he’s been loaned out to Chelsea.
There is no option to buy included in that deal though, and Tuttosport believes Inter are weighing up the possibility of bringing Kovacic back.
Sporting director Piero Ausilio has been trying to sign a creative midfielder for some time, and tried to sign Luka Modric in the summer.

i think if inter are able to pick up kovacic, it will do them a great deal of help in a midfield which needs some energizing, though i think alternate options are better, as kovacic isnt really what they need. they were close to getting Arturo vidal in the summer, and he wouldve done wonders for their depth, but he again would be box to box, and he would be a CM/CDM. what inter should aim for is a CAM/CM player instead, as they have good CDMs already. Ozil is an option, though his wages may be too much. Chisea is a good target, but is best as an attacker, not midfielder. they could rival ac milan for cesc fabregas, though that is unlikely. that brings us back to Rafinha Alcantara, a player who has played at inter before, and enjoyed it at inter, yet inter did not want to pay his option-to-buy in his loan deal. half a season later, Rafinha is undergoing treatmant for ACL injury after surgery (out 6 months) and he could be available on the cheap next summer fir inter, if barca wants to sell. he may be injury prone, but a decent player when on the field
