Inzaghi: ‘Lazio don’t think about Mourinho’

Simone Inzaghi expects a ‘humble Lazio’ against Roma and believes José Mourinho will be 'an added value' for the Giallorossi.

The Biancocelesti’s hopes to finish in the top four are still alive as they sit five points behind fourt-placed Napoli, but have a game in hand.

They meet seventh-placed Roma in the derby tomorrow.

“It’s not a game like the others, we have had some problems, but we still believe we can qualify for the Champions League,” Lazio coach Inzaghi said at a press conference.

“We know it’s going to be a challenging game tomorrow, I’ll ask the lads to have the same humility and determination we’ve had in the second part of the season.”

Roma have appointed José Mourinho as their head coach for next season, but Inzaghi clearly does not focus on that.

“We’ll think about it later on. For now, we only want to focus on the derby and the next games. Mourinho will be an added value for Roma.”

What’s the best memory he has about a derby?

“As a player, I enjoyed the 2-1 win in the season when we won the Scudetto. We were behind Juventus in the table and we went down to one goal, but we recovered with goals from Nedved and Veron.

“As a coach, I pick the one in the Coppa Italia semi-final, we had won the first-leg, but we played the second leg after a couple of months. We were a little worried, but the reward made everything more special.”
