Italy's coaching chief Renzo Ulivieri admits he's disappointed with Roberto Mancini's resignation.
Mancini quit as Italy coach on Sunday citing a lack of support from FIGC.
Ulivieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I didn't like the timing or the ways. Everything could have been done in a different way.
"The Football Federation today has two important tasks: it must quickly find the coach for the men's national team, which in a couple of weeks is expected to play fundamental matches for the qualifying for the European Championship, and it also needs to find the coach for the women's national team.
"I wouldn't want the women's football movement to take a back seat."
On the prospect of former Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti taking charge, Ulivieri added: "It would be a good choice. Antonio Conte would also be fine, for heaven's sake. In Italy we have excellent coaches.
"Luciano has also gained considerable experience at an international level and this can make the difference. I repeat: he can be the right man to do what is needed."
