The Chelsea goalkeeper did not start against Tottenham, and the coach says it was his decision to bench the Spaniard
Maurizio Sarri says the choice to not start Kepa Arrizabalaga for Wednesday's match against Tottenham was a "message to the group".
The Spanish star has come under fire for refusing to be substituted in Sunday's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
And now, he has been excluded from the club's first match since the incident with Sarri saying it was his decision to do so.
"It's a choice. It's a message for my group. We are a group - not 25 players. It is my choice," Sarri said on BT Sport.

there is a reason for having a coach.. the role of the coach is to develop a team.. if all the members take it upon themselves to do as they please, there is no team but a set of individual players.. we may not agree with the decision on the coach.. but he is the person in charge... this is why coaches tend to be the first to go when a team continues to loose.. he is in charge of developing the team. individual players must find a way to fit into that plan to make the team better. if you don't agree with the coach.. you iron that out during team meetings and not for the world to see.. that is an embarassment to the team, the coach and the individual player...

I support Sarri bench him for the rest of the season or better still sell him. he thinks he is better why because he was bought expensively well sorry dear It was a complete mess from the board otherwise he won't be carrying that price on him... stupid That should serve as a warning to the rest!

I support Sarri .....Player must always respect coach ......Kepa must respect Sarri whatever the situation might be ..... I don't wanna go off the topic but the relationship between coach and player must be ideal just like CR7 and Ronaldo and hope Kepa understands that too
