Marcelo has been the subject of plenty of criticism from various sections of the Real Madrid faithful after some questionable recent performances.
His slow reaction to a stray ball in the game against Girona on Sunday allowed Portu to head home a shock winning goal for the Catalans, which added fuel to the doubts over the Brazilian.
After the match, a Real Madrid fan page on Instagram published an image that showed Los Blancos' last last nine league results with Marcelo as a starter, of which just one ended in a win.
Alongside it was a list of Sergio Reguilon's last nine matches, which have all resulted in victories for Madrid.
The caption of the photo read: "Why does Marcelo continue as a starter? I love him but, damn, we have to be realistic."
Evidently frustrated, the Brazilian himself responded sarcastically: "It's all my fault!!! We continue."
The performances of young Reguilon have vindicated Santiago Solari's bold decision to make him the first choice full-back.

When Marcelo was doing amazing, (when Ronaldo was there and with Zidane and Mourinho and Ancelotti) everyone loves him, they all sId he’s the best of the best, better than Roberto Carlos for crying out loud. But no when everyone is doing doing bad, you’re all gonna blame Marcelo? Y’all don’t know what problems he’s going through, he has basically no friends at Real with Kiko’s and Ronaldo’s departures from the club, nows the time to encourage him more than ever before. Everyone in the team should be blamed bc he lacks confidence and it’s the teams fault, that he doesn’t have confidence.

Marcelo has been the key to success in Madrid for the past 6-7 years and people wanna start criticising him because the club is having a bad season, it’s not fair Madrid are used to that “use a player and dump him”.

Marcelo is not a sit back defender for 90 minutes, he loves to add more numbers in attack, that has been the way he has excelled but now that results are not going the Real Madrid way some fans want to throw all the blame on him, even Solari is frustrating him by not giving him enough game time. This is Marcelo who has been a pillar of defence for Real Madrid together with Ramos, Varane and Cavarhal...better moderate your ill language or else he will feel he has outlived his welcome at the Benarbeu and move on,im sure whichever team he goes to, it will ultimately lock horns with Real Madrid in UCL and he will come to hound you. Learn to appreciate your players in good times and bad times too.

I think Marcelo is a great player, but he has lacked in his defensive duties and abilities, which solari desperately needs on the left flank. Marcelo is becoming a lot like dani alves at psg, a wide midfielder who can push up the field. That would be okay, but there's no one playing right back when he's up, leaving Madrid exposed to any fast winger. Although reguilon is only in his first year in the first team he fills in the void where defense is needed. Tbh, it's probably easier for solari to give reguilon playing time since he coached him at castilla, reguilon is better defensively, and Madrid won't be so exposed on the left side.

is he playing for friends or for the team. come on we all know that he is good and he has to know to that those that are gone will not be coming back he is also not a new player he's been there for over 10 years he is an assistant captain. the team can give the encourage but a lot has to come from him as well.
