Former World Cup finalist Ivan Perisic is unsure where he'll play next season, as his contract with Dutch champions PSV is due to expire.

Perisic joined the back-to-back champions in the summer of 2024 as a free agent and won the fourth league title of his career on Sunday when PSV beat Sparta Rotterdam 3-1.

The now-26-time champions were up one point before the game started and had to win to secure the title. Perisic opened the scoring himself with a low header in the first half, but Sparta equalised, and for six minutes, Ajax were the virtual champions.

But PSV stayed calm under pressure and closed out the game thanks to Luuk de Jong and Malik Tillman.

"Unbelievable when you win this way, on the last day of the season. We didn't give up," Perisic told ESPN after the match.

'Thanks to Feyenoord'

Just a month and a half ago, Perisic and PSV had given up all hope on winning a second-straight title following the 2-0 home loss to Ajax. They shifted their focus to second place, which was under threat with Robin van Persie's Feyenoord charging and finding terrific form.

"Thanks to Feyenoord as they kept pushing us from the third spot," Perisic continued. "We kept fighting for the second spot and took advantage of Ajax's points loss.

"We were there till the last day. In the end, this is deserved. The best football, in the beginning and at the end of this season. In the middle, we lost some points, but in the end, we are the best team in the Netherlands"

Perisic started as a bench player behind Johan Bakayoko, but stole the starting spot on the right wing and picked up some great form towards the end of the season with seven goals and two assists in his last six games.

The 2018 World Cup finalist says he's enjoying his role as mentor in a young PSV squad. "I left my country when I was 17 years old. I know it is difficult and also that my advice is going to help them in the future."

However, the Croatian veteran is unsure whether he'll also defend PSV's colours next season. "We shall see. I will decide that with my family."
