Manchester United are desperate to find a buyer for Jadon Sancho after Chelsea pulled out of a deal to sign the 25-year-old winger permanently following a loan spell

Manchester United have made progress in their attempts to offload Jadon Sancho after Fenerbahce reportedly agreed personal terms with the winger. Sancho is on the transfer list at United after Chelsea turned down the opportunity to sign him permanently following a season-long loan.

Chelsea decided they would rather pay United a £5million fee than go through with signing Sancho for £25m in what was a major blow for Ruben Amorim’s side. Sancho doesn’t have a future in Amorim’s squad and his £300,000-a-week wages are a significant drain on the club’s finances.

United are desperate to sell off their unwanted players in the summer transfer window, in order to help fund a rebuild, but Chelsea’s rejection sent them back to the drawing board. Thankfully, it now appears as though they have found a willing buyer.

Fenerbahce are in the market for a left winger after Allan Saint-Maximin’s loan spell came to an end. Jose Mourinho has green-lighted a move for Sancho and Turkish outlet Sabah says there has been a major breakthrough in negotiations.

The report states that the 25-year-old has agreed to a deal worth €10m (£8.5m) per year in a bid to convince him to venture outside of Europe’s top leagues. Now, having found an agreement with Sancho, Fenerbahce are now preparing their offer for United.

Fanatik says United are willing to sell Sancho for as little as €20m (£17m) because he only has a year left on his contract. Napoli were also interested in signing Sancho, but only if he reduces his salary demands.

It seems, therefore, that Fenerbahce are now in the driving seat to sign the winger, who got five goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season.

There is another option, though, with Galeno mentioned in the report. The 27-year-old Brazilian joined Al-Ahli from Porto for €50m in January but has failed to settle in Saudi Arabia and wants to leave this summer. He has seven goals and five assists in 18 games for Al-Ahli and would be available on loan.

Sancho is at the top of the list of players United want to offload this summer, alongside Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho. The reason is obvious, with Sancho a flop of significant proportions since signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73m.

He has just 12 goals and six assists in 83 games for United over four years and has not come close to matching the potential shown at Dortmund, where he managed an impressive 40 goals and 47 assists in 118 appearances.
