Injured Tottenham star James Maddison has launched an attack on referees and VAR after Spurs had a goal controversially ruled out in their clash at West Ham.
Thomas Frank's side thought they had scored the opener 20 minutes into the match at the London Stadium when Cristian Romero headed home from Mohammed Kudus' corner.
But referee Jarred Gillett immediately blew his whistle and signalled for a foul, with his call confirmed by VAR. It later emerged he had given the decision for a push on Kyle Walker-Peters by Micky Micky van de Ven after the corner had been played into the area.
And Maddison, who will miss the majority of this season with an ACL injury, criticised the officials in a scathing post on X during the game.
'Honestly the referees & VAR have had an absolute shocker of a start to the season,' Maddison wrote.
'If that goal is disallowed for a foul you will never ever see a corner be taken without referee blowing for something ever again.'
Spurs stars, including Romero, were left fuming at the referees' decision.
The Premier League's Match Centre account on X said: 'The refereeโs call of no goal was checked and confirmed by VAR โ with it deemed that van de Ven pushed Walker-Peters in the back and impacted his ability to play the ball.'
