Jesus Vallejo to stay at Real Madrid

MARCA can reveal that Real Madrid central defender Jesus Vallejo will remain with the club for this season despite receiving a number of offers from top flight Spanish clubs.

Amid interest from Real Sociedad, the player, along with the coaching staff and board have decided that the best course of action is for the Spaniard to spend another season at the Madrid club.

Despite reports that Julen Lopetegui is interested in signing another defender in this transfer window, Los Blancos have given a vote of confidence to the ex Real Zaragoza player and praised his professionalism, reassuring him that injuries won't affect his performance.

Lopetegui will count on the centre-back as he demonstrated in the build up to the World Cup, when he had him on standby in case of any injuries to more senior players.

In fact, the Real boss reiterated his confidence in Vallejo when he arrived at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, although it's true that the club had considered a loan move for the player, something which is now off the table.
