Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen made more than one costly error in the 5-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which has the left the Blues with a mountain to climb next week
Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen suffered a torrid evening against reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain and seemed to blank captain Reece James as he marched straight for the tunnel at the final whistle. The Swedish shot-stopper conceded five goals as Chelsea crashed to a 5-2 defeat in Paris.
Liam Rosenior's side had been competing well and were drawing 2-2 until the 74th minute, when Jorgensen handed PSG a vital goal. His attempted distribution from the back was intercepted by Bradley Barcola, who squared for Vitinha to fire the hosts in front.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then netted twice in eight minutes, handing the French champions a commanding advantage heading into next week's second leg at Stamford Bridge. At the final whistle, Jorgensen was visibly livid and marched off the pitch whilst his team-mates went to acknowledge the travelling supporters.
A video circulating on social media shows James attempting to persuade the 23-year-old to join the rest of the squad in recognising the fans, but the goalkeeper pressed on towards the tunnel.
He was eventually halted by fellow keeper Robert Sanchez, who seemed to convince him to return to the pitch and applaud the supporters.
Several supporters reacted to Jorgensen's behaviour, with one posting on X: "This is bad from Jorgensen. Aside all you should have shown respect to the fans.
"This is the reason why I always talk about experienced players in the dressing room. Can you do this in John Terry's era? Not at all even when they have the likes of great players like Drogba."
Another commented: "Rip up his contract," whilst a third highlighted: "At the end of the day, nobody is feeling worse about this game than him right now... Blown his chance in probably the biggest game of his career."
A fourth stated: "That's probably even worse than the mistakes. Another one that needs to leave this summer."
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, James voiced his complete support for the Swede.
"This is football, this is the way we want to play," he explained. "If you play out from the back, mistakes are going to happen.
"Everyone in the team understands that. That is how the manager wants us to play. We are fully behind Filip."

I don't think Jorgensen disrespected the fans, I think he was just disappointed, he felt he let the fans down and he couldn't just face them

He made a mistake and everyone start making it look like he caused the five goals. He passed a ball and it was intercepted, hello, is that not common in football? I know why he was angry, Enzo disrespected him on the pitch. That was uncalled for. Enzo should have calmed him down when it happened, not causing tantrums. The best of the best keepers, makes such mistake. And it's not the reason why they lost. They lost to a better team, period!😔
