Journalist: Xhaka focused on World Cup, refuses transfer talks; Chelsea rejected by Sunderland

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on social media that Granit Xhaka stated regarding his future: "It's not my job to discuss a potential transfer to Chelsea; I have agents to handle these matters. I want to focus entirely on the World Cup."

Despite Sunderland's insistence that Xhaka is not for sale, Chelsea continues to pursue him actively. After joining Sunderland in the 2025-26 season, Xhaka became a key player and captain, helping the newly-promoted side finish 7th in the Premier League and secure Europa League qualification. Xhaka made 34 appearances this season, scoring 1 goal and providing 6 assists.
