Julian Nagelsmann will not take up the role as Paris Saint-Germain head coach after talks between the two parties broke down, according to reports.
The German has been out of a job since being sacked by Bayern Munich in March, with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel immediately replacing him, and is apparently no longer being considered for a first managerial role in France.
Nagelsmann was favourite to take over at the Parc des Princes after Christophe Galtier was sacked at the start of June following just one season at the club.
Intense negotiations had taken place over several weeks between Nagelsmann and PSG decision-makers, however discussions failed to find a suitable agreement, as first reported by L'Equipe.
The 35-year-old will now be left to seek out other opportunities unless PSG and himself agree to U-turn on their apparently concrete decision.
It was previously reported that positive talks had taken place and the Ligue 1 champions were edging close to an announcement as Nagelsmann looked set to take up his fourth permanent role in management.
It even appeared that the Bundesliga-taught coach had already began to identify potential members of his backroom staff with Thierry Henry earmarked as his number two.
The failed appointment at the French giants marks a third missed managerial opportunity after Nagelsmann was previously linked with Premier League vacancies.
There was initial interest from Chelsea who were considering the German before deciding to hire Mauricio Pochettino, while Tottenham were another reported destination.
Meanwhile, PSG are reportedly considering other high-profile names and could be in a position to name a new head coach as early as next week.
Bologna manager Thiago Motta has reportedly been mentioned amongst the favourite candidates, having previously embarked on his first stint in management with PSG's Under 19s team.
Former Spain and Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is also another possibility as the French side continue their search for a fourth manager in five years.

MORIHNO, PSG rejects, Valverde PSG Rejects Naglesman PSG Rejects.. PSG with and objective to build a solid team in Europe and win the UCL, prefers to rather go for petit coaches and at the end of the year or in 3 years u sack them and put forth lazy complaints. For GOD sake what type of stupid Club is this, with this type of strategy I bet u PSG find it extremely difficult to grow and worst of all win the UCL. Get and excellent manager not a good one, keep him there for at least 5 - 7 years and dreams will manifest. I bet you that Thiago motta or any other petit coach to PSG might not make up to 3 years as coach of PSG... This is madness

Again! This man will later end up being jobless for so long or end up being a Norwich city coach.
