Jurgen Klopp refuses to rule out more January signings for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out the possibility for more January arrivals at Liverpool despite the £44million signing of Dutch star Cody Gakpo.

The Reds swooped to sign Gakpo, 23, from PSV Eindhoven in the days prior to the January window opening, beating their rivals Manchester United to the punch.

While Gakpo offers Klopp another excellent attacking option capable of playing on the left wing or centrally, the Liverpool boss didn't rule out further additions next month.

'The money you spend impacts on the money you can spend. Same for anyone,' Klopp said ahead of Liverpool's home game with Leicester City on Friday night.

'But we know what we want to do and [we will] see if we can do it. It's about the money of course but it's more about how it always was - the right players.

'We are really, really happy we got Cody. It's about timing and getting players in at the right moment. He always made the next step.

'We believe in our process, when players - especially offensive ones - they all make a step forward because of the way we work and we can help them.'

Gakpo, who scored three times for Holland at the World Cup in Qatar, will offer Liverpool an immediate solution on the left side with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota both currently out injured.

He had scored 13 goals and contributed 17 assists for PSV during the opening months of the season in all competitions.

Although Gakpo may in time be moved to a more central forward, a role he is familiar with from Holland duty, Klopp refuted suggestions Roberto Firmino will be leaving the club.

'No. We had talks with Bobby. From my point of view I want him definitely to stay. It has no impact. If it affects Bobby then you'd have to ask him,' Klopp said.
