Juventus 4-0 Pisa: Four different goalscorers help hosts end league winless run

Juventus eventually broke down a resilient Pisa side to earn a comprehensive 4-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium, retaining their unbeaten record after 16 Serie A meetings against the Nerazzurri in the process.

Match Report

The hosts largely controlled possession early on, but they had a surprise scare within five minutes as Stefano Moreo’s header from a Samuele Angori cross brought an awkward save out of Mattia Perin that also required the post.

Juve didn’t have to wait too much longer to begin creating promising openings of their own, although Khephren Thuram guided his attempt harmlessly over, and Francesco Coppola headed away Francisco Conceicao’s curling effort.

Federico Gatti powered a header straight at Nicolas Andrade, who then got down well to stop Conceicao’s latest strike.

Antonio Caracciolo then eye-catchingly slid in to stop a Jonathan David shot, as Oscar Hiljemark’s side continued to stand firm defensively.

Thuram resorted to an ambitious strike from range that fizzed straight into Nicolas’ grasp, while Pisa continued to ask questions going the other way with Rafiu Durosinmi proving to be particularly problematic, although Moreo couldn’t work Perin with his latest header and Mehdi Leris’ effort hit a teammate.

Manuel Locatelli hit a speculative shot from range high and wide, before Caracciolo got a touch on Conceicao’s attempt in the first half’s final seconds to help his goalkeeper deal with it.

Luciano Spalletti responded to his side’s underwhelming first half with a double change ahead of the restart, and the hosts went on the front foot.

Caracciolo stopped a shot from Kenan Yildiz, but the Turkey international played a part in his side’s breakthrough moments later, as he latched onto Conceicao’s pass and dinked the ball to the back post for Andrea Cambiaso to head home.

Having waited so long for an opener, Juventus celebrated their second just 11 minutes later, as Locatelli’s shot cannoned off the post and kindly into Thuram’s path for the midfielder to slide it into the net.

With a quarter-hour remaining, Yildiz worked space from Coppola and smashed the ball out of Nicolas’ reach.

Jeremie Boga then rounded off the evening by gliding past the goalkeeper and coolly converting, as Juventus comfortably ended their four-game winless run in Serie A to go one point behind Roma and Como, although the former play on Sunday.

In doing so, they inflicted a fourth consecutive defeat on a Pisa side that sit bottom of the table for now.
