Juventus boss Spalletti frustrated by Kolo Muani

Luciano Spalletti wants to see much more from Randal Kolo Muani, who he says must rediscover what he has lost.

Kolo Muani re-joined Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, having previously enjoyed a fruitful spell on loan with the Bianconeri in 2025.

The France international spent last season on loan at Tottenham. He made 41 appearances, with 26 of those being starts, while scoring five goals and laying on four assists.

Kolo Muani played the full match as Juve started their Serie A campaign with a 1-0 win over Frosinone on Sunday, but Spalletti was left hugely frustrated by Kolo Muani's display.

He told DAZN: "We went and got Kolo, we’ve looked after him and we know what his value is.

"But he has to realise that he hasn't played for two years and there must be a reason for that. Sometimes you think you're at an exceptional level but you've left something behind that you need to go and get back."

Kolo Muani had three shots, though he hit the target with only one, with those chances being worth a combined 0.4 expected goals.

Juve had 20 attempts overall, creating chances worth 1.99 xG, with Bremer's 22nd-minute effort ultimately proving decisive.

And Spalletti said Juve are in the market for another option up front.

"These are matches in which you have to take goals home because the spaces are in your favour," he said.

"The striker we’re looking for might have different characteristics. Today the spaces were there but we weren't able to exploit them.

"I would have preferred the team to show it has an identity, and it did that.

"At certain moments we're a bit light, we're not good at bringing that determination. But it can happen, especially at the start. We'll work on it."

Juve have won 14 of their last 16 season-opening Serie A matches (D1 L1), and have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight, including each of the last five in a row.
