According to Bild, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane recently responded to discussions about his potential knighthood. Previously, Kane won the Golden Boot award in London, which immediately sparked discussions in England about whether he would be included in the New Year Honours list, with the British government also giving positive signals.
If officially granted a knighthood by King Charles, Kane would then be able to use the title "Sir Harry." In response, Kane laughed during an interview with German media, saying, "I certainly wouldn't refuse, and I greatly value that recognition. If it really happens, it would be incredible and something that would make me incredibly proud. But right now, I don't want to get too caught up in it."
When asked if the title "Sir Harry" sounded good, Kane replied, "It does sound good, but it would feel a bit strange if everyone called me 'Sir.' So for now, just call me Harry."
Back to Work After Golden Boot Win
Kane described the past week as "crazy." After winning the Golden Boot award in his hometown of London, he admitted feeling different tension before the awards ceremony compared to a football match.
"It was an incredible night. Of course, there was a lot of tension during the process. You have to wait for a long time, and you keep imagining what it would be like if you actually won. But honestly, it was truly special," Kane said.
He also thanked his friends, family, and fans for their well wishes via messages and social media, adding that he celebrated with his close ones after the awards ceremony. However, after the celebrations, he quickly returned to work, saying, "I'm still trying to process it all."
Kane was rested in Bayern Munich's 6-1 DFB-Pokal victory over Magdeburg, sitting on the bench for the entire match. Before the game, his Bayern Munich teammates lined up to welcome him, and the fans in attendance also applauded the Golden Boot winner.
Kane admitted that he wasn't entirely comfortable being the center of attention: "It was a bit strange. I don't usually enjoy those moments. Walking out for warm-ups and seeing everyone standing there applauding, I don't really know what to say, and it even felt a bit awkward. But I certainly understand that it's a significant achievement."
Kane Preparing Gifts for Teammates
To thank his Bayern Munich and England national team teammates for their support, Kane plans to prepare gifts for them. He revealed, "Some teammates want things like watches, so I'll have to think of something special for them. Whether it's at Bayern Munich or with the England national team, I'll take care of it and will definitely get everyone a nice gift."
Kane's next important moment related to the Golden Boot will arrive on Friday. His wife Katie and children, who had remained in London, will meet him, and he will show the trophy to his family for the first time.
Kane is greatly looking forward to it: "I'm very happy to see them again and want to show them the trophy. I can already imagine them trying to play with it or lift it up, and the trophy is actually quite heavy. So I might need to keep a closer eye on it this time."
