'Kane is the best transfer we've ever made', says Bayern chief Hoeness

Bayern Munich's honorary president, Uli Hoeness, feels Harry Kane is the best signing the club has ever made and is confident he will remain with them next season. 

Kane brought the curtain down on a sensational campaign with the Bundesliga giants on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final.

In doing so, the England captain became just the fourth player to score three goals in the competition's showpiece, and the first since Robert Lewandowski in 2011-12. 

Kane also took his tally in the DFB-Pokal this season to 10. For Bayern, only Gerd Muller in 1976-77 (11) has managed to net more in a single campaign in the competition. 

Excluding the Club World Cup, Kane has scored 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions, while also providing seven assists, with his 68 goal involvements at least 20 more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues (48 for Kylian Mbappe). 

But with his contract expiring in 2027, Kane has been linked with a move to Barcelona, who saw Lewandowski score in his farewell for the club against Valencia at the weekend. 

Hoeness, however, said the 32-year-old would not be going anywhere, even suggesting that Barcelona have "no money" that could facilitate a potential transfer. 

"Harry Kane is the best transfer we've ever made," Hoeness told Das Erste about Kane, who joined the club for a reported €90m (£77.4m) from Tottenham in 2023.

"Bayern are a buying club, not a selling club."

Pressed on if he could definitely confirm Kane would stay, he added: "Yes [...] and Barcelona have no money anyway."

Kane was also questioned about his own future, but he shifted the focus to the World Cup, where he will look to lead England to glory for the first time since 1966. 

"It's not the time to talk about [a possible contract renewal] now, but there's no panic," he told Sky Sports Germany.

"We wanted to hold [off] conversations until the end of the season, and we've got a World Cup still to play. But everyone knows how much I enjoy it here. That situation is calm."

Bayern's DFB-Pokal triumph was their first since 2020, while it was their 21st title overall, which is at least 15 more than any other team in the competition. 

Vincent Kompany's side won 46 of their 55 competitive matches this season (D6 L3), equalling their club record from 2012-13, having never won more games in a single campaign in their Bundesliga history.
