Kane says first trophy 'worth the wait' as Bayern celebrate Bundesliga title

Harry Kane declared the first major trophy of his career was "worth the wait" as Bayern Munich celebrated their 34th Bundesliga title win on Saturday.

Bayern had already secured the Meisterschale last week, as 2023-24 victors Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 at Freiburg.

And they celebrated in style with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena, with Kane and Michael Olise getting the goals.

Kane's goal was his 25th in the Bundesliga this campaign, at least six more than any other player. His 32 total goal involvements (seven assists) are also the most in the competition.

Kane had been depicted as a nearly man during his time with Tottenham, losing two EFL Cup finals and the 2018-19 Champions League showpiece, while he has also captained England to runners-up finishes at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.

But he believes all those heartbreaking near-misses have been worth it, telling Sky Sports Germany: "It's an incredible feeling, it's worth the wait.

"It's been a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice in between, for moments like this. To enjoy it with the team, enjoy it with the fans. I'm loving every minute."

Kane has also backed Vincent Kompany's team to capture more honours in the coming years, adding: "We're going to enjoy this for sure, but then hopefully this is just the first of many.

"We have a great team, a great coach and we feel like we're building, so we're looking forward to the challenge."

Kane was mobbed by his team-mates and doused in beer during his Sky Sports interview, then added: "It's cold, but there's going to be a few more today, for sure!"

Bayern have one game remaining this season, away to relegation-threatened Hoffenheim next Saturday.
