Thierry Henry believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane would have been a better signing for Manchester City than Erling Haaland despite the Norwegian's ridiculous goalscoring numbers in his debut campaign.
City failed with a move for Kane in the summer of 2021 and then went on to bring in the coveted Haaland a year later.
The big striker took the lead by storm and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 25 goals, second-placed Kane trailing him with 17.
However, Haaland's goals have not improved City in terms of winning, Pep Guardiola's somewhat inconsistent team having trailed Arsenal for most of the season.
And Gunners legend Thierry Henry believes Kane, who has had another impressive season, might have been a better fit.
Asked if he would prefer the Englishman in his team over Haaland, Henry said: 'I would say that if I had to build a team to win.
'For example, I thought Man City were going to go for Harry Kane. We all know they wanted him but I thought they were going to come back in.
'I thought he is the typical striker for city. I think it would've been better.'
'He became complete, he became an all around player and this is what I like about him.'
'We all know what he can do and all know what he can do in the box, but what he does outside of the box now for his team this is something that I have to respect massively. He became for me, over the last two, three years, a complete striker.'
Commenting on Haaland, he added: 'we all known when Kevin De Bruyne has the ball he can find him.
'There was one piece of advice that Arsene Wenger gave me that stayed with me, he said: 'What can you do when your team is not feeding you."'
'I think he did stop what they were about. They had a certain way of playing. I think they are more predictable.'
Haaland and City take on Henry's former club Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday night in the biggest game of the season.

No you can't compare Kane and Jesus. Kane was a goalscorer but has become more of a complete player the last 2-3 years and Jesus is another type of player who links up with others but his finishing he has to work on it.
Just that Jesus is a better dribbler, better at press, more energy and also a complete player who is way younger than Kane... He can work on his finishing a bit but he is just the same bracket with Kane but he is better than Kane was at this age

kean was going to be an answer for City unlike the hungry Lion Haalan who is a solution to cities problem...in other words Kean to City abig "No" but Haalan no mistake made...

Kane is just a photocopy of Jesus an all round player, who links up well with the team. Jesus was even younger, more skillful, a drbbler and more energetic than Kane but he was sold to Arsenal to make way for Alverez and Haaland.... Still Haaland is a better fit because City were crying for a prolific striker not an older version of G Jesus....

Pep has always had dribblers in his teams. Grealish is jus an average player. How does Messi, Ineista, Robbin, leroy Sane, Sterling, Mahrez, Bernado and Cancelo serial dribblers fit in Pep's type of play and all of a sudden Grealish tge dribbler doesn't fit????? Of all the dribblers i mentioned is there a single player who is not better than Grealish at dribbling????? Grealish lacks the quality to play with better players. He is not on the same level of dribbling with all those Pep players yet somehow people blame Pep's type of play kkkkkkk
All those players you mentioned knew or know when to dribble and when to pass unlike Grealish who dribbles to much and of course looks for the foul and doesn't know when to pass the ball or assist and let's not talk about scoring. He should create more chances but like you said he's average but Pep saw something great in him 🤷♂️.

Keane is just a better fit than Grealish because I Keane play in Premier League, Grealish also does.
Yes Pep needed a CF not another Sterling or Foden and i didn't mean Grealish wasn't playing in EPL👍.

If everyone is marked, then no forward in the world can excel, even the best in the game (Messi & cr7) could perform poor when the team plays bad as a whole, take a look at the 8-2 Barca defeat for Bayern, then the 5-0 defeat by Liverpool against utd, no man can run a ball from his defense to the box, Take the 4-1 defeat for Kane’s spurs against Leicester 🤢
you do know it's impossible to mark everyone right? It would be 11 vs 10 on the field.

well said Henry, you understand football very well. Some people just see what's in front of them today but can't see how haaland is going to struggle next season

City made a mistake buying Grealish/dribbler who doesn't fit Pep's style of play of passing the ball#keep possession and for 100m🤦♂️ while they should've and could've bought Kane who they needed and was a better fit already knows the league and players.

why would Madrid want Haaland to replace Benzema instead Kane who has the same play with Benxema???????
Maybe its because of age m sure but Haaland is not the answer

That’s why forward like oshimen benzema and Kane makes a lot because they play right from there own box down to the opponent side

Kane wasgoing to be a photocopy of Jesus at City. However Jesus was younger and more energetic. City needed a prolific goal scorer thats why Haaland is the best fit. If it was about linking play and being an all rounder then Jesus would've ticked all the boxes yet they sold him to Arsenal. An all round player will always starve you of goals because when the ball is in the box he isn't there to score.... Kane to City was a no no. They just wanted Kane to win trophies and credit him for what City could do without him

At this stage in there careers, Kane is tailor made for city brand of football because he has mastered the act of patience and term unity.. Halaand on the hand with is raw pace and direct approach would have been perfect for united..
Kane is not tailor made for City. Hè would have been a photocopy Jesus who was also an all round player and way younger than Kane. However City sold Jesus and went for Haaland because they needed a prolific goal scorer not a duplicate who offers what they had already... Haaland is a better fit for City because of his conversation ratio against the chances created for him

Say whatever you want. City was going to more predictable with Kane. Kane doesn't turn up when his team needs him the most. He has a competent coach and a solid team in Totenham and England yet he just can't drag them over the line. City has enogh players to pass around and create ---- Haaland is the best fit for City because they needed a goal scorer not a photocopy of what they have already. City have enough players who can link up play, they don't need duplicity that's why they sold Jesus who plays the same way with Kane

We all have different opinions but on my own I think Kane was going to fit well in City than Haaland coz of positioning, n skills even when the team is not playing well Kane can keep his fit up. Yes Haaland is a goal machine but when the team is under pressure he become useless, he can't find the ball can't run ups n downs the pitch only inside the box is excellent

I hear every one talking on how Hallandale has made city different in a negative way but I think it's just a change of style which is a good thing. it may affect man. city now but when they start getting along they will become a force again. city still has a few players to be integrated to the squad. Grealish I think is not good enough, Cory need quick wingers who can dribble and creat chances like kvaratelia in Napoli and they will get him this summer but let's not forget, they are second in the lewge and still in the CL so the transition isn't as bad as people say compared to Liverpool and Chelsea
Correct better Foden than Grealish

That’s shitty talks, where was Kane in the 4-1 defeat against Leicester, Haaland squared passes against man utd (6-3) and against AstonVilla in tight angles where Kane should have shot, we saw how bad Kane is with a dominant England side where he wouldn’t do in-behind runs nor pass, so dnt tell us your English man

If haaland is a type of player that can create space and do job by himself then man city would’ve won man United but he need someone to get find him inside the box but everyone seems to be marked and prevented from finding him which make things difficult for them

But he chose to be with Tottenham. That is why he will finish his carrier without trophies. And still Haaland scored more than him at Man City 😂😂😂
