Time is running out for Manchester United to take advantage of Mois Kean's release clause and the Red Devils may find another issue in securing his signature in the coming days
Manchester United may have to move quickly if they hope to sign Moise Kean as their new striker this summer. The Fiorentina star has an uncertain future in Italy as La Viola brace for a move from Simone Inzaghi's Al-Hilal.
Fiorentina want Kean to remain in Florence after he scored 19 goals in 32 appearances in Seria A last term. Reports in Italy claim they have produced an offer to extend his contract but a release clause in his current deal leaves them vulnerable.
Kean will be permitted to leave the club for €52 million (£45m) due to a clause that can be triggered until July 15. Al-Hilal currently appear most advanced as they look to raid Italy once again under Simeone after signing Theo Hernandez from AC Milan.
The Saudi Pro League side are said to have already made direct contact with Kean's entourage and are willing to pay the release clause. A move would see the player sign a four-year, €20m-a-year (£17.3m) contract.
Al-Hilal's move appears contingent on giving up on Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who was the club's top target. The Nigerian, who was also linked to United, appears to be closest to joining Galatasaray however.
And with just days remaining before Kean's clause becomes inactive, Ruben Amorim's side must decide if they are going to act on their interest. The club are the Premier League side to have shown most interest, per the Athletic.
Fiorentina have already signed ex-Manchester City star Edin Dzeko this summer. The forward's arrival is not considered to be as a replacment for Kean however and instead as a complementary player with a differing skillset.
The Italian arrived in Florence last summer for a fee in the region of £15m after a career that has already seen him play for Juventus, Everton and Paris Saint-Germain.
United have set out with the intention of bolstering their forward line this summer and have already added Matheus Cunha to their squad. The club have struggled to act since then and seen bids knocked back for Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo, while Viktor Gyokeres looks set for Arsenal.
Amorim will hope to solve his sides goalscoring problems after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to set Old Trafford alight last term. United mustered just 44 goals in the Premier League as they finished 15th.
